“Peckham takes its roots in a surprising French Canon typeface from a Vincent Figgins specimen made between 1801 and 1815. It has the typical boldness of Figgins’s display type but has been adapted to suit contemporary tastes. While keeping the original contrasts and sharp verticality, Peckham is also nourished by early 19th century’s Scotch Roman typefaces and later revivals of the genre.”
