"Early on, we tackled a redesign of Metro's bus fleet. Our primary goal was to increase visibility on the street, both to attract attention and as a safety measure. We developed custom paint colors to denote service: California Poppy for Local service; Rapid Red for our Rapid service, which is 25% faster and includes curbside 'stations'; Business Blue for our commuter buses; and Silver Streak for articulated Metro Liners that evoke sleek 1930's trains or Airstream trailers. The addition of silver to the two-tone color combinations creates a visual lightness. Large letterforms brand the fleet and reflect headlights at night, increasing visibility on the street."
