Staff: Just me, with the help of great freelance assistants and talented support resources I tap into when needed.

Education: BFA, University of Oklahoma School of Fine Arts, and then assisting lots of talented photographers.

Cultural Influences: Sight—rust, long shadows, bridges, sunlit objects against a stormy sky; Sound—pile drivers, distant trains, cicadas; Smell—coffee beans, fresh-baked bread, fires; Feel—my daughter Matisse running into my arms, sudden drastic changes in temperature; Taste—Thai iced tea, avocados, margaritas; Art—my wife’s art and all-encompassing creativity, Andy Goldsworthy, Irving Penn, Jon Hassell.

Environment: As a location shooter, it’s different places with different people every day—a reality that I’m incredibly grateful for and never take for granted. In my home office, I’m surrounded by colored walls, low light, dub reggae and a bottomless iced tea.

Philosophy: Keep it simple, less is more; subtle can convey more than obvious; don’t force-feed the viewer with a message or emotion, give them something to contemplate, make them want to see more; the most intriguing photographs ask more questions than give answers; negative space is more powerful than a filled frame; strive to work with people who make the experience fun.
