Duration: Four years ago I found myself flying back to Colombia (from Atlanta) with three years of experience as a photo assistant and a 25-page portfolio, knocking on advertising agency doors and introducing myself as a photographer.

Staff: Just me, two computers, a few cameras and a great team of agents at Fox Creative.

Education: The Art Institute of Atlanta “master's degree” (at least what I would consider one), working three years full-time for photographer Jim Fiscus, where I learned many important things about this industry, most importantly to be humble and treat everyone with the respect they deserve.

Cultural Influences: Walking in the streets of Bogota or New York City, Cuban food, my grandfather, California’s deserts, colors in any forms, Miro, Basquiat, people’s journeys.

Environment: The picture dictates the place.

Philosophy: Jim Fiscus told me once, “Working as a photographer is like joining the army. First you learn what a rifle is, then, you learn how to naturally shoot it. Second, you learn how to shoot naturally and hit in the target all the time. Then, last and most importantly you have to shoot naturally and always hit in the target when you have a bunch of people shooting at you.”
